Current events Response to report cards changes in Surrey
I think this isn’t a good idea to take out grades and just tell the student where he’s/she’s at in school. The student may or may not fall behind thinking that teachers are not going to give letter grades so the student might fail or fall behind. Students and parents wouldn’t have the conversations about their kid’s grades and might not push the student to study as well as before. But this program has some pros as well. It can give parents a better understanding about where their child stands in learning so they can get a tutor to assist them in the areas they need help in.
The student will have more pressure knowing where his/her errors are. This new program is a good idea but they should ask parents first.
Hi Karn, very well written paragraph good spelling and punctuation I just don't understand if kids are absent they don't get their homework? Explain.
ReplyDeleteHello Karn, I like your detailed thoughts in this paragraph. However, you need to watch out for your grammar. For example, you can't use but after a period. Nice try though, and also try to have more paragraphs rather than one huge paragraph.
ReplyDeleteHey Karn! Gold work on ur paragraph! You had some very detailed sentences but maybe you could explains on your sentences a little but more? :) your spelling was good and overall your paragraph was pretty good! Great try :)
ReplyDeleteI like how the group is tryig very hard to give Karn some feedback without being "mean" about it as we discussed in class. We will continue to work on this skill together. Good to see your post sparked some conversation with your group - now you need to reply.
ReplyDeleteKarn you have some good ideas about how perhaps parents should be consulted before the decision is made and I noticed you distinguished between conversations parents and students have about 'grades" versus conversations parents and students have about "learning." I would love to see a bit more detail here to clarify what you mean. I think there is a difference, but I wonder if parents and students think so? Continue to work on expanding your ideas with some examples and to help with some of the mechanics (spelling, grammar) don't forget to type in a word program and then copy/paste into your post.
